Michael Vick Caught With Marijuana At Airport

Wow, what a moron. He's a high revenue athlete making millions of dollars a year, and he didn't have a weed contact when he got wherever he was going?

It blows my mind that an athlete of his caliber would be caught trying to take weed onto an airplane. It's not like he did something stupid on the road, was pulled over, and his car happened to smell like weed...he tried to take a water bottle on the airplane. When Vick was questioned about the bottle, he hesitated to hand it over, which drew the suspicion of the airport employees. He later threw the water bottle out, and a screener grabbed the bottle out of the trash and contacted the authorities. The bottle was divided into compartments and gave off an odor of marijuana.

GM Rich McKay and new head coach Bobby Petrino met with Vick today to voice their displeasure with the incident. Combining this with another inconsistent offensive season and the presence of Matt Schaub, and you have to wonder what the Falcons are currently thinking about their quarterback situation. Vick's inability to mature into a team leader, selfish attitude, refusal to work on his flaws, and off-field behavior are major warning flags to the Falcons organization that he might not pan out to be the player they hoped they drafted.

Unfortunately, I'm sure talent will win out, Vick will start next year, and the Falcons will continue shopping Schaub to see what type of return he'll provide for them. What coach wouldn't want to claim that they were the one that finally turned Michael Vick's elite talent into a complete quarterback?

Fantasy Impact: Vick's offseason is turning into one to monitor. He still remains a good fantasy quarterback thanks to his built-in rushing yards. Those rushing yards help overcome his occasional terrible passing statistics, which often shield him from a completely disasterous fantasy performance. These possible drug charges could provide a problem for Vick's availability for the 2007 season if he's already been entered into the NFL's drug program, which is mostly anonymous until they receive their first suspension. I still rank him as a lower QB1 due to his inconsitent passing and injury risk, but he'd drop to a QB2 if he were to miss 4 games next season.
