The Denver Broncos have placed RBs Michael Pittman and Andre Hall on IR with neck and wrist injuries, respectively.
Both of their seasons are over, and both can be dropped immediately in redraft leagues. Ryan Torain and Selvin Young will carry the load over the remainder of the season, with Torain having the most upside as a perfect fit skill-wise for the Denver running scheme.
Fantasy Impact: Those who smartly stashed Torain will immediately be rewarded as he is suddenly the favorite to carry the load for Denver this Thursday night against Cleveland. Denver had the most pitiful rushing attack in team history yesterday against Miami, but as Pittman has proven earlier in the season, they can still run the ball effectively when they want to. My take? Denver was reluctant to run much with an injured Pittman, this was Torain's first game action since the first half of the college season last year, and Miami's run defense has been excellent this year with a shady secondary backing them. They now take on Cleveland's 25th ranked rushing defense, and with Selvin Young inactive last week due to a groin injury, it's unlikely he'll get much action on a short week. Torain becomes a risky, but very interesting RB2 candidate with a 15-18 carry ceiling in my eyes.
