B.J. Ryan Complains Of Sore Elbow

Toronto closer B.J. Ryan compliained of a sore elbow after two disasterous blown saves in his last four appearances.

Sore Elbow + visit to Dr. James Andrews = Bad. This is a deathblow for B.J. Ryan owners who drafted him to be the ace of their bullpen. He's been placed on the 15 day DL for now, and will be examined by Dr. Andrews on Monday. It will be determined later today whether he has ligament damage (which would require Tommy John surgery), or if it's something less severe.

Fantasy Impact: Grab Jason Frasor immediately. He'll be the Blue Jays closer indefinitely while Ryan is out, possibly for the rest of the season if Ryan needs surgery. He's been very effective as a short reliever the past two years outside of a dreadful start last season. He'll post a very strong K/9 and should maintain solid ratios as a closer. Shaun Marcum picked up the save yesterday, but that's because Frasor had thrown 30 pitches the night before and needed the day of rest.
